[31.08.10 - 31.10.10] Hope Hall - USA
"I seem to like to start from what already exists, focusing on some very personal, abstract take on reality, then playing around with the psychology and particular tone of that angle and view. like with collages or music, i reconfigure what is already there to make some new song out of it."

How long are you resident? From--august 31--- until--november 2 (if that's ok? or october 31)----- ?
Have you been in Trondheim before? never, i'm so excited to be there!
Do you wish to get in touch with somebody in Trondheim? yes, i know no one and would love to get to know anyone who has the time or inclination! also, i was wondering about the university, i teach in the states and would love to give a guest lecture in any sort of film, video, photography, cinematography, documentary, new media, political communication class? we can talk more specificaly when i get there...
Is it something you look forward to…very much so!
About you work
Discipline: film, video, photography, cinematography, new media, projection design
Technique: i think of my work as creative non-fiction, and as experimental, personal collage.
Statement: i seem to like to start from what already exists, focusing on some very personal, abstract take on reality, then playing around with the psychology and particular tone of that angle and view. like with collages or music, i reconfigure what is already there to make some new song out of it.
Plans for your residency? i will spend the first few weeks preparing for the exhibition, working with and making work out of the existing daylight conditions in the gallery. i have brought photos and video to show, and would like to install them in a way that is particular to the space itself, so the work becomes site-specific through choice of surface and light source. if i can build a camera obscura, i would love to. i would either use existing daylight as the projection source or perhaps even use the projection of my own videos. i would like to photograph the camera obscura images and present them each day for the duration of the show. i am also very interested in the rapidly changing daylight during this period. from what i understand, the days are shortening by 6.5 minutes every day right now. i am thinking about a time lapse photography or video piece that explores the changing light, either in the gallery or somewhere else in trondheim. i will show complementary existing work. after the exhibition i will turn my attention completely to new work, based on what i began for the exhibition.
