  "Advance obituary" is the journalistic phrase for a draft of a death notice that has been written and filed, thereby recognizing the inevitability of death, the significance of the life, and the craftsmanship involved in constructing even the most cursory biography. Hope Tucker is an American filmmaker making "advance obituaries" for disappearing Scandinavian traditions and landscapes. The short films and videos that make up her series THE OBITUARY PROJECT elegize as they condense the lives of people, places or objects whose time has or will soon pass.  She will be at LKV until the end of OCtober, animating old instructions for making fishing nets by hand, editing footage of the remaining phone booths of Finland, shooting film of the fjords, and researching the history of the paper clip as a symbol of Nordic nationalism.
