LKV
  A place for professional artists
In spite of the fact that many artists have their education from the city’s art academy, few stay in the region after graduation. An important aim of LKV has been to develop an artists’ house with studios and workshops so attractive that more artists will choose to stay in Trondheim.

Vernissage and the citys major Rita Ottervik is giving a speach.

There has, however, been a positive development lately, especially after LKV reserved one of its studios for graduates. As we see it, LKV works very well as a place where art is produced. But it still has not reached its potential as far as initiatives aimed at the outside world is concerned. Even if the phase of establishing is over, this does not mean that the job is done. Some of the challenges are how to define the future course and eventually find the resources (money and people) to extend the range and frequency of activities.

LKV will still need people who see the need for pulling themselves and others up by the bootstraps and achieve the impossible. LKV’s potential importance as an agent in Norwegian art life is great. It is our hope that the next decennial jubilee will be for an even more well defined and focused art institution and that our region and country will be an even more active participant in global art life. This is a challenge not only to us artists but also to the politicians who have the responsibility for creating good working conditions for artists.

The main goals of LKV are:
- to provide well equipped and reasonably priced workshops to professional artists
- to run a residency program for national and international artists
- to arrange projects, courses, seminars etc. in the field of contemporary arts
