About your work
Discipline: Printmaking.
Technique: Screen printing, textile printing, embroidery and collages.
Statement: My current work makes use of found materials such as printed fabrics, old wallpaper retrieved from derelict buildings and second hand clothing. Using these designs as a starting point other hand printed images are interwoven with the original patterns. Sometimes the found materials are used as a backdrop to an implied story, at other times the pattern is worked back in over the foreground image meshing them together. These pieces combine techniques of printmaking, collage, embroidery and textile printing in a unified whole.
Plans for your residency? I will be producing new work, mainly screen prints, textile prints and collages for an upcoming joint exhibition at Babel in February. |
