Since the early 1990s, Norwegian artist Tore Honoré Bøe has established himself internationally by consistently crossing the boundaries between the established and the non‑established. Through performance, text, sound, and visual art, he actively highlights contrasts and breaks with consensus. Bøe consistently draws from the unwanted, the ignored, the trivial, and the ritual.
Bøe lived in Trondheim from 1996 to 2002, where he played a central role in bringing different communities together, among other things as the founder of the still‑ongoing concert series Klubb Kanin and the cultural network Origami Republika. This activity laid the foundation for “The Trondheim Scene” becoming a recognized term within the international noise and alternative music community. He has countless releases and concerts behind him, and his inclusive and informal style led him to devote much of his career to sharing “the underlying” through workshops and informal performances. His art has been exhibited in well‑established galleries and is included in collections such as Rockheim. Musically, he has performed on many of Europe’s most legendary stages, especially as support for the German band Einstürzende Neubauten. Yet he never forgets his roots. You now have a unique opportunity to take part in this history.
Bøe was an AiR at LKV throughout October, where he collected physical material for collages, published a fanzine, and gave several concerts. At the same time, he carefully went through a large amount of archival material, both from his years here and beyond. In February, he has been back to develop an exhibition in Lille Prosjektrom.
Bøe’s career and artistic expression are so expansive and difficult to categorize that he is known for different things in different circles. The aim of the exhibition is therefore both to show the breadth of his work as an installation in itself, and to define the core and the connections between the contrasts. The absurd and Dadaist are presented through laminated pages from his fanzines and releases created here. The concrete and physical appear in a series of boxes where the “trash” from October has been transformed into colorful small artworks. In addition, he presents various techniques and methods for using documentation itself as material for new works. In line with this, a corresponding soundscape is based on the same techniques. The artworks are for sale, as are the publications in handmade covers and limited editions.
As part of the exhibition, Bøe will be present throughout the entire period, symbolically continuing to produce work while also being available for informal conversations.
