Welcome to a guest artist talk with the duo OSOTO lab.
OSOTO lab. is an artist duo based in Tokyo, currently in residence at LKV during October and November. Their practice begins with observations and research of the natural environment, leading to site-specific installations that engage deeply with the spatial surroundings. The name “OSOTO” comes from a gentle, childlike expression for “outside” in Japanese, reflecting their long-standing reverence for the natural world. Working together allows them to uncover aspects of natural phenomena that might otherwise go unnoticed individually—each project becoming a dialogue not only between the artists and nature, but also between the artists themselves.
In Trondheim, they are developing a new work inspired by the landscapes and environmental elements of Norway. Through an installation that responds to the exhibition space, they explore perception and the subtle relationships between humans and nature.
