Marte Reithaug Sterud
Marte is in residence at LKV through a collaborative residency program with LKV + ArtScene Trondheim. During the residency, she will write about the exhibition Breaking Ranks by the Finnish artist Pilvi Takala which is shown at Kunsthall Trondheim.
Marte Reithaug Sterud (f. 1985, she/her) works as a dancer, choreographer and critic mainly in Oslo. She holds a BA in Contemporary Dance from Oslo National Academy of The Arts (2008), one year at The School for New Dance in Oslo (2010) and an MA in Gender Studies from The University of Oslo (2021) with a master thesis on lesbian performativity. She is interested in the relationship between the body, gender, sexuality, art and knowledge production. Together with Ann-Christin Kongsness she arranged the conversation series Queer Dance Art in 2018 (www.skeivdansekunst.no) and in 2021 they premiered the ongoing performance series Butch Tribute – a celebration of queer female masculinity which has been performed throughout Norway and in Sweden, Iceland, Italy and Hungary. (www.butchtribute.com) She has worked as a performer for amongst others Tori Wrånes, Mette Edvardsen, Haugen Productions, Goro Tronsmo, Brynjar Bandlien and Solveig Styve Holte. She received a work grant from the Norwegian Arts Council from 2014-2016 and in 2022. Marte has been writing dance critics for Norsk Shakespearetidsskrift (2019-24) and writes at the moment for scenekunst.no. She is a member of the Hedda jury.
