OSOTO lab.

OSOTO lab. is a collaborative project initiated in 2022 by Tokyo-based artists Takatoku Nishi and Yumeo Nakayama. Drawn to the rhythms of nature, they explore themes such as light, wind, plants, and animals—expressing the invisible forces that surround us through spatial artworks. While their works often contain poetic elements, what they value most is intuitive and sensory experience, creating environments where viewers can feel the rhythm of nature and the pulse of life.

The name “OSOTO” comes from a gentle, childlike expression for “outside” in Japanese, reflecting their long-standing reverence for the natural world. Working together allows them to uncover aspects of natural phenomena that might otherwise go unnoticed individually—each project becoming a dialogue not only between the artists and nature, but also between the artists themselves.
