Alexander Crilles Tønnesen

Alexander Crilles Tønnesen (b. 1997, Køge, Denmark) is an artist based in Trondheim, Norway. He works across writing, time-based media, and installation, often responding directly to the spaces and contexts in which his works appear. Educated at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts (BFA 2022, MFA 2025) with an exchange at ERG Brussels, he is known for his framework of Post-Infrastructure, a way of reworking existing systems and materials to explore how they shape everyday life.

His practice focuses on urban experience, collective memory, and the unnoticed structures that influence belonging. Tønnesen often develops projects through research, collaboration, and on-site experimentation. A key example is Paa Trondhjemsk Vis, a project that brings together maps, dinner parties, guided walks, and installation to examine how infrastructure and city development affect people’s sense of place. Across his projects, he works with a balance of material sensitivity and conceptual clarity, allowing the process to shift in relation to the environments he engages with.
