Carlos A. Correia

Carlos A. Correia (b. 1989, Seixal, Portugal) is a interdisciplinary artist based in Trondheim, Norway, working across ceramics, text-based art, installations, participatory practices, lens-based media, performance, and printed matter. He holds an MA in Fine Art from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, NTNU. Alongside his artistic practice, he co-runs SMØR Press, a micro-publishing platform with Joana Bruno, which operates as a social initiative to engage with and understand the urban environment through participatory strategies.
Carlos' solo practice investigates the private space, focusing on individual identity and its relationship to collective identity within the context of both local and global political and social landscapes. Repetition is a central technique in his work, allowing him to explore themes in greater depth. His art often serves as a commentary or critique of contemporary societal structures, examining issues like labor, hierarchy, and social norms.
His work has been exhibited internationally, with a particular focus on Norway and Portugal, and is featured in various collections.
