Artist Talk: Edvine Larssen

Artist presentation with Edvine Larssen

Welcome to a special artist presentation with Edvine Larssen, one of the participating artists in the opening exhibition of BABEL’s new exhibition space.

This talk highlights the growing connection between LKV and BABEL, now located around the same courtyard i Mellomveien. BABEL’s new space, situated in the former gym building that also houses LKV’s residency apartments, creates new possibilities for exchange between the studios, the residency, and the exhibition program. With BABEL’s new Wednesday opening hours from 11:00 to 18:00, audiences can now experience both the exhibitions at BABEL and the occasional Lunch with guest artists presentations at LKV in one visit.

We will start with a presentation in the LKV kitchen, where Edvine will talk about her artistic practice. Afterwards, we will then move to BABEL, where she will introduce her new site-specific work created especially for the opening group exhibition BABEL REMIX.

Edvine Larssen (b. 1977 in Vefsn) lives and works in Trondheim. Her practice is site-sensitive, often taking the form of immersive installations both within and outside the gallery context. Her works are both material and conceptual, situated at the intersection between the performative, the sculptural, and the architectural. She also works with artist books and text. Larssen has been invited to create site-specific works for Kunstnernes Hus, NNKS, Tromsø Kunstforening, TSSK, Trondheim International Performing Arts Festival, LevArt, and Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum, among others. She has studied in London, Trondheim, and Japan, and holds a PhD in Artistic Research from NTNU. Larssen concluded a professorship in contemporary art at the Art Academy in Tromsø in 2023, and is currently preparing for her upcoming solo exhibition Isfjellteknikk at Kjøpmannsgata Ung Kunst, opening January 2026, as well as a commissioned work for the new Ibsen Library in Skien, opening 2028. In collaboration with SMØR Press, she launched the artist book Et vått spor tegner en ny kyst (Curtain (VI) in April 2024, recently acquired by the National Museum.

Bring your lunch and join us for this extended session connecting the engaged art communities of LKV and BABEL. Admission to BABEL and all our artist talks is free. Coffee and tea are on us.
