Event

On October 24, BABEL invites you to celebrate the opening of its new premises in the former gymnasium at Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (LKV), Mellomveien 3B.
The opening marks a rare and historic moment in the Norwegian art scene, as it is not often that an artist-run exhibition space builds its own venue.
«BABEL REMIX» is the very first exhibition in the new gallery space, presenting works by Hilde Honerud, HC Gilje, Edvine Larssen, Vilje Celin Kern Vestenfor, Pål Lersveen, Sofie Hviid Vinther, Linn Halvorsrød and Tegneklubben (Bjørn Bjarre, Ulf Verner Carlsson, Paul Dring, Terje Nicolaisen, and Martin Skauen).
The exhibition title refers both to BABEL’s very first exhibition in 2006, «BABEL MIX», and to the fact that BABEL itself has now gone through a kind of remix process. The exhibition brings together artists with very different expressions and approaches and can be read as a cross-section, or a good mix, of the upcoming exhibition program.
The move into the gymnasium also marks the moment when all of LKV’s main components are finally gathered in one place: the studio collective, the shared workshops, the artist-in-residence program, and now BABEL.
With this interplay between production, presentation, and community, we open the doors for the public to experience art from the inside, close to the artist’s own premises and processes.
BABEL’s opening weekend will also be marked by opening the doors to the entire LKV community on Saturday, October 25, from 12:00 to 16:00. Visitors will then be able to explore artists’ studios and the shared workshops, in addition to the exhibition at BABEL.
