The residency

Artistes en résidence (Clermont-Ferrand, France) and Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (Trondheim, Norway) are offering a six-week research residency at Artistes en résidence (A·R) in Clermont-Ferrand, France.

The residency collaboration between LKV and A·R fosters transnational exchange, artist participation, and in-depth, research-based practices. As part of this residency exchange, LKV receives an artist from Clermont-Ferrand, and A·R receives an artist from Trondheim.

Artistes en résidence

Created in 2011, A·R is a non-profit organization which supports contemporary creation by organizing residencies for artists and researchers in contemporary art. They support the international mobility of artists and the circulation of ideas and know-how, through the development of a vast network of local, national and international partners.

Artists are at the heart of the A·R project. Their team provides them with equipped workspaces and accommodation, as well as human, technical and financial support, and offers personalized mentorship. Fostering meetings and exchanges, A·R’s team puts artists in residency in touch with art professionals, researchers, associations, artisans or anyone who can help to develop their artistic research. A·R considers the international dimension and what it allows in terms of travel, personal development and openness to other practices and cultures, the notion of hospitality being primordial to the project.

A·R understands residencies as a period entirely dedicated to research and experimentation, with no obligation to finalize production. This orientation intends to provide artists with the necessary time for qualitative and in-depth research, to promote a real immersion in the local territory and to allow all the trial and error, detours and critical questioning necessary for the development of their art practice. Artists have the opportunity to present their research during a public end-of-residency event, which is not mandatory, free in form and organised in close collaboration with A·R's team
