The LKV Artist-in-Residence program for artists from other disciplines was opened in 2019, complementing the long-running visual arts and craft residency. It welcomes professional artists working in dance, music, performing arts, film, literature, curating, and other interdisciplinary practices, with support from local partners who may provide expertise, networks, and access to additional facilities.

This open call applies to residencies taking place in 2027 and 2028. The program encourages artists to explore new directions, work across disciplines, and challenge their practice. There are no requirements for how the residency should be used, giving artists the freedom to focus on process-oriented or exploratory projects. As specialized facilities beyond LKV’s shared workshops cannot be guaranteed, the program is especially well suited for artists in an exploratory phase of their work.Artists in this program cannot apply for an exhibition at BABEL, but may have the opportunity to host an event in one of LKV’s premises if space is available during the residency.

The open call is intended for professional artists working in dance, music, performing arts, film, literature, curating, and other interdisciplinary practices at all stages of their careers. Artists may apply for a residency of 22 days to 3 months between January 2027 and December 2028. Residencies can be undertaken as one continuous period or split into two separate periods, which may be particularly suitable for artists who need separate time for research and production.

During the residency, the artist will receive:

  • Accommodation: a fully equipped 25 m² apartment across the yard from LKV’s main building; shared laundry facilities available.
  • Access to workshops: LKV’s technical workshops for wood, metal, printmaking, analog photography, ceramics, and large-scale production.
  • Additional facilities, subject to partner approval, may include access to a dance studio at DansiT for up to two weeks (Monday–Friday, cleared nightly), as well as rehearsal space at Rosendal Teater for up to two weeks.
  • Public presentation: Artists are encouraged to hold a short, informal presentation of their practice at the beginning of the residency. This facilitates contact between the resident artist and the local artist community, but is not mandatory.

All other expenses, including travel, living costs, materials, insurance, and transport, are the responsibility of the artist.
